Gyroscope Test

This page is meant for supported phones and tablets that expose motion sensor data to the browser.

What gyroscope testing helps with

It can reveal whether the browser sees rotation sensor changes at all and whether updates look obviously frozen or erratic.

That is useful for games, AR-like interactions and motion-dependent apps.

Why browser results differ

Motion APIs may require permission, may be throttled or may be blocked depending on the platform and browser.

Use this as a compatibility and sanity check, not as a calibration tool.

Rotate the device and watch continuity

After starting, slowly rotate and tilt the device. Alpha is yaw around the Z axis, beta is pitch around the X axis, and gamma is roll around the Y axis. The values should change with motion rather than staying locked at zero.

Try left-right rotation, forward-back tilt and portrait-landscape changes. Testing multiple directions makes one-axis problems easier to notice.

Check permission and browser support first

Mobile browsers may restrict motion sensors, and some platforms require HTTPS, a user gesture or explicit permission.

If values stay blank, try another browser or check system sensor permissions. Hardware failure is more likely only when multiple apps cannot read motion either.

FAQ

Why is there no data on my computer?

Most desktops and ordinary laptops do not expose gyroscope data to the browser, so this is expected.

Is small movement while still normal?

Yes. Sensors have slight noise. What matters is whether values change coherently while rotating and stay relatively stable while still.

Can this page calibrate the gyroscope?

No. It only displays browser-reported data. Calibration usually belongs in system settings or vendor tools.
